JELD-WEN Announces Winner of “Make Your Home A Star!” Contest

(Winnipeg, Manitoba) June 28, 2010 — On June 21, window and door manufacturer JELD-WEN held a draw for the grand prize in its “Make Your Home a Star!” contest, and is pleased to announce that Carole Pelletier of Drummondville, Quebec, is the lucky winner.

The grand prize consists of $30,000 in ENERGY STAR®- qualified JELD-WEN door and window products and $20,000 for other products designed to improve home energy efficiency. Mrs. Pelletier—who called the news “a pleasant surprise”—claimed her prize on Friday, June 25th at Dionne et Fils BMR, a Drummondville building materials retailer and authorized JELD-WEN dealer.

JELD-WEN, a longtime pioneer in the promotion of energy efficiency, launched the “Make Your Home a Star!” contest in March, offering Canadian residents the chance to win up to $50,000 for renovations to improve home energy efficiency. JELD-WEN intended the contest to have a broad impact, and it did—attracting nearly 55,000 entries. The response was so positive that the manufacturer hopes to make the contest an annual event.

The grand prize will let Mrs. Pelletier not only improve her home’s energy efficiency, but also save on electricity and heating bills. By slashing energy costs, ENERGY STAR-qualified doors and windows from JELD-WEN offer substantial savings while enhancing home comfort.

The contest winner also received $20,000 to purchase other ENERGY STAR-qualified products, like appliances, or to carry out additional renovations such as insulating the roof, which will also improve her home’s energy efficiency.
