A rounded transom positioned above an entry door.

A transom sits above an entry door and sidelites.

Transoms are horizontal or rounded windows positioned above an entry door or window. A transom can either be paired with sidelites, for a sense of symmetry surrounding a door, or used alone. Depending on the style and shape of the transom, it may better suit a door with sitelites or without. Transoms are available in many shapes and styles. They can be built with regular window glass, or glass that is beveled, textured or patterned. Adding a transom to your entry door is an excellent way to add light and make a bold statement with your entrance system.
